Web Quest Lesson Plan

Introduction

Students have explored the Big Idea of Our World and Beyond. In this lesson, they will read two articles about time travel. After reading these selections, students will write about one prediction they foresee one hundred years from now if they had the ability to travel in time.

Lesson Description

Students will read selected passages from Time Travel <http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/time/> and Ask an Astrophysicist <http://imagine.gsfc.nasa.gov/docs/ask_astro/answers/970326a3.html>. Then they will write about one prediction they foresee one hundred years from now if they had the ability to travel in time.

Instructional Objectives

  1. Students will use the Internet as a resource to get information.
  2. Students will read information about time travel.
  3. Students will write about one prediction about what the future one hundred years from now if they had the ability to travel in time.

Student Web Activity Sample Answer

If I could travel one hundred years into the future, I think I would find methods of transportation very different. Because of the current oil crisis and the rapidly increasing human population on Earth, fossil fuels are going to be used up quickly, creating a need for alternative methods of transportation. For example, I can imagine people driving cars powered by the sun's energy.
