When Persephone descends into the underworld, she sees many strange things. Hades owns a three-headed dog, Cerberus, who guards his front gate; the underworld is circled by a giant river, Styx; ghosts and ghostly flowers populate its land. Based on your reading, write a paragraph describing Hades’ underworld as you imagine it. What does Cerberus look like? How deep is the river? Does it flow fast or slow? What do the ghosts look like?
