Tuesday Siesta

In “Tuesday Siesta,” Gabriel García Márquez uses descriptive details to capture the landscape through which the train passes—for example, the “dusty palm trees” and “the mysterious silence of the plantations.” Imagine that you are on a train, passing through a specific landscape, either real or imagined. Write a paragraph describing what you see through the train windows. Be sure to use sensory details to describe the sights, sounds, and smells of this landscape.
