Reapers

In the poem “Reapers,” Jean Toomer comments on the inhumanity of machines. Think about a machine or a tool that you use everyday, for example, a cell phone, a calculator, a hair dryer, a television, a vending machine, or a bicycle. Write a short poem about this machine. How does the machine or tool help you? What activity does it replace? Does it make your life easier? Does it make your life better? Think about whether you want to portray the machine as inhuman or humanlike.
