Sonnet 30 and Sonnet 75

Poets can use visual images to set a tone and create meaning using metaphors. In “Sonnet 30” Spenser uses the images of fire and ice to describe his relationship with his beloved. In “Sonnet 75” he uses another set of images. Write a short essay in which you identify the central image in “Sonnet 75” and explain the metaphor underlying it. Then explain how this metaphor sets the tone, or feeling, and develops the meaning of the poem.
