Reading-Writing Connection Activities

1.

Follower

In the poem “Follower,” the speaker describes himself as a child, following behind his strong father who plows the fields. The last two lines of the poem advance to the time when the father is an old man and is stumbling behind his son. Think of an important relationship in your life and how that relationship has changed over time. Write two paragraphs, one that describes what your relationship was like in the past and one that represents the relationship now.
