The Californian’s Tale
In “The Californian’s Tale,” Mark Twain carefully describes Henry’s house as well as the cabins in which the narrator and other miners usually live. Write a paragraph comparing and contrasting Henry’s house and the cabins. What do they reveal about the lives of the miners? What do you think the narrator’s motivations are for staying at Henry’s for a few extra days?
