Functional Documents: Mail Order Forms, Applications, and Technical Instructions

Good instructions explain clearly and completely the step-by-step process needed to complete a task or follow a procedure. Instructions that are easy to understand include all necessary steps in the sequence, or order, in which they should be performed. If even one important step is missing, the task may not be understandable.

For this activity, write step-by-step instructions for fellow students in your classroom to follow during a fire drill. Be sure you explain how the class should line up, exactly where they should go to exit the building, and what instructions they should follow to return safely to the classroom.
