The Circuit

“The Circuit” ends with the narrator returning from school to find out that his family is preparing to leave the Sullivan’s farm. Based on your reading of the story, why do you think they are leaving? For this exercise, continue the story, explaining why the family is leaving and describing the narrator’s feelings about this. As you continue the story, try to write in his voice, the voice that the rest of the story is written in. When you are finished, share your ending with a partner. How are your two endings similar? How are they different?
