Reading-Writing Connection Activities

1.

Zlateh the Goat and The Boy Who Lived with the Bears

Both “Zlateh the Goat” and “The Boy Who Lived with the Bears” are written in third-person point of view. For this exercise, imagine that one of the stories was written in the first-person point of view. Rewrite the story from the perspective of one of the characters. It can be any character within either story: the father, the mother, or the goat in “Zlateh the Goat” or the uncle or the old mother bear in “The Boy Who Lived with the Bears.” When you are finished, share your story with a partner. How is your story different from the version in the textbook?
