The Phantom Tollbooth

At the end of the first act of The Phantom Tollbooth, Milo leaves Dictionopolis with Tock and Humbug. He has been seen by King Azaz on a quest to rescue Rhyme and Reason. For this exercise you are going to write a scene from the second act. First, choose a location from the places that Humbug lists in his description of the quest. Second, determine which characters are going to appear in your scene. After you have done this, write your scene, including stage directions and dialogue. Be sure to use The Phantom Tollbooth, Act One for help in constructing your scene. When you are finished, stage a reading of your act with a couple of friends.
