Reading-Writing Connection Activities

Rikki-Tikki-Tavi

In the “Set Purposes for Reading” section before the story, you were asked to form a picture in your mind of the house and garden in “Rikki-Tikki-Tavi.” Now that you have read the story, think again about the house and garden. In a paragraph, describe what you see in your mind. All of the details that you see don’t have to be in the story. What color is the house? What sorts of things are in the garden? Are there other animals or people than the ones described in the story? What does the inside of the house look like? When you are finished, take turns sharing your descriptions with the class. How are they different? How are they similar?
