A Day’s Wait

In the story “A Day’s Wait,” Ernest Hemingway uses dialogue to advance the story and to show the personalities of his characters. He writes dialogue that is very realistic, using nicknames and incomplete sentences to reflect the way that people actually talk. Write a short dialogue between two fictional students. They might discuss weekend plans, homework, extracurricular activities, or other routine activities. Their conversation should reflect their personalities and be realistic. Try to capture how people talk in real life.
