Summer

What is your favorite season? Write a short poem like Walter Dean Myers’s “Summer” that describes what you like about your favorite season. Use language that relates to the five senses. Think about experiences that are common to that season and list words you would use to describe those experiences. Select the most vivid words from your list and those words that sound most interesting to you to use in your poem. You might want to repeat a few key words in your poem just as Myers does in “Summer.”
