Traditionally, the valedictorian of a class gives a speech at his or her graduation ceremony. In this speech, the valedictorian might talk about the achievements of the class, describe hopes for the future, or offer advice to his or her classmates. Write a speech that Marta might give if she were to deliver the valedictorian speech at her eighth-grade graduation. As you work, keep in mind Marta’s background and how she acts in the story.
