The War of the Wall

The wall in Toni Cade Bambara’s story is important to the neighborhood’s children. Think about a building or a location in your community that is important to you. It might be a community center, a public pool, or a park. Imagine that your community wants to tear down this building or structure. Write a letter to officials of your town or city explaining why the building or location is important to you and why it should be saved. If there are ways you would improve this building or location, describe those improvements in your letter as well.
