From Edgar Allan Poe

The author tells us that Edgar Allan Poe made money by speaking at lyceums, which are public events where crowds gathered to hear a famous person lecture. Poe delivered lectures titled “The Poetry of America.” Imagine that you are scheduled to give a lecture at a lyceum in your town. Compose a short lecture about something that you know well. Try to use language that your audience will find interesting and compelling. When you are finished, read your lecture out loud to the class.
