“Climate Change”

Introduction

In this chapter you have learned about the variety of factors affecting climate and climate patterns. You have learned that climate patterns change over time for a variety of reasons. Although reasons for climate change are not completely clear, it is evident that human interaction with the environment has affects.

Lesson Description

Students will gather information from the internet. They will learn what global warming is, why it is a matter of concern, and some actions that can be taken at both the individual and the local level to reduce its impact. They will answer five questions about the information.

Student Web Activity Answers

  1. Any significant change in the measures of climate. Global warming simply refers to the rising in temperature of the Earth's climate.
  2. Both natural and human caused activity causes “global warming”
  3. Student answers will vary, but generally over 3 billion metric tons per year.
  4. Student answers will vary, but include carpooling to burn less fossil fuel, using solar or hydroelectric power, and searching for alternative fuels for motor vehicles.
  5. The intensity of the suns rays and changes in the oceans' circulation. Student answers will vary, but probably will state that in recent years human caused events have sped up global warming on the planet.
