Introduction When you use a variety of sentences and clauses, your writing is more interesting. Good writers understand that changing sentence structure and length will help keep a reader engaged. For example, subordinating clauses add detail to descriptions. Willa Cather's O! Pioneers is a classic example of using clauses in this way.
