Web Quest Lesson Plan

Introduction

Students have explored the Big Idea of Awkward Encounters. In this lesson, they will read about awkward or embarrassing moments that other people have experienced. After reading these selections, students will write about an awkward moment and how they would react to it.

Lesson Description

Students will read selected articles that offer advice from Embarrassing Moments: How to Deal http://pbskids.org/itsmylife/school/embarrassing/article3.html and Embarrassing Moments: Things to Remember <http://pbskids.org/itsmylife/school/embarrassing/article5.html>. Then students will write about an embarrassing or awkward moment and how they would react to it.

Instructional Objectives

  1. Students will use the Internet as a resource to get information.
  2. Students will read information about embarrassing situations.
  3. Students will write about an embarrassing or awkward moment and how they would react to it.

Student Web Activity Sample Answer

To me, an embarrassing situation would be dropping my tray of food in the cafeteria and having everyone stare at me. If something like this actually happened to me, I would try to make a joke of it by taking a bow or and laughing at myself.
