Introduction
Students have read about the purposes and characteristics of descriptive writing. In this lesson, they will use information and ideas from the reading to assign descriptive words to illustrations.

Lesson Description
Students will determine which descriptive words are most effective for each of two illustrations.

Instructional Objectives

  1. Students will be able to demonstrate their understanding of the reading.
  2. Students will be able to apply information and ideas from the reading to their own writing by choosing meaningful, effective descriptors.
  3. Students will be able to practice observation skills.
  4. Students will be able to demonstrate their understanding of descriptive words.
