Introduction
Students have read about parliamentary procedure and how it supports the democratic process. In this lesson they will review types of motions in the parliamentary process.

Lesson Description
Students will read terms associated with parliamentary motions and choose the best category in which to group each term.

Instructional Objectives
Students will reinforce vocabulary pertaining to parliamentary procedures and the types of motions associated with them.

  1. Subsidiary Motions— table a question, postpone, modify debate, amend
  2. Privileged Motions— adjourn, recess, raise question
  3. Incidental Motions— appeal chair, point of order, suspend rules
