Web Quest Activity Answers

  1. Answers may vary. Edison blamed the debilitation of his hearing on being picked up by the ears as a child, but his father and his son suffered a similar loss, which suggests it was hereditary.
  2. Answers may vary. Students might choose the risible story about Edison trying to hatch goose eggs by sitting on them or the one about his invention of a machine that talked to the dead.
  3. Lewis H. Latimer was one of many inventors who improved on Edison’s incandescent electric light bulb. Latimer invented and patented a filament that made light bulbs last longer. Afterwards, he took a job with Edison’s company and become one of the “Edison Pioneers,” which suggests that there was no vendetta or ill feeling between the two men.
