- Answers may vary. Edison
blamed the debilitation of his hearing on being picked up by the ears
as a child, but his father and his son suffered a similar loss, which suggests
it was hereditary.
- Answers may vary. Students might choose the
risible story about Edison trying to hatch goose eggs by sitting on them
or the one about his invention of a machine that talked to the dead.
- Lewis H. Latimer was one of many inventors who
improved on Edison’s incandescent electric light bulb. Latimer invented and
patented a filament that made light bulbs last longer. Afterwards, he took a
job with Edison’s company and become one of the “Edison
Pioneers,” which suggests that there was no vendetta or ill feeling between
the two men.
