Section 13.2 Stress Management

  1. Symptoms can be physical, mental, or emotional. Stress tends to attack where the person is weakest.
  2. Symptoms can include: a pounding heart, physical weakness, dizziness, neck and back pain, sweating, headaches. People may sleep too much or not be able to sleep. They may be irritable, depressed, tense, or afraid.
  3. Stress can be limited by maintaining good health and managing life well.

  2. Epinephrine is a hormone released from the adrenal glands when danger threatens. It gets the body ready to fight or run when it is threatened. It boosts the supply of oxygen and glucose to the brain and muscles; prepares the body for action; makes the heart beat faster, dilates the pupils, increases blood sugar, breaks down fat cells; and suppresses the immune system.
