1. Blends combine the best qualities of each fiber, which improves fabric performance and appearance.

2. Twill weave is the strongest type of weave.

3. Answers will vary. Sample answers: A silk scarf adds elegance to an outfit. A chunky knit sweater makes an outfit more casual and cozy.

Practice Academic Skills
4. Your sales pitches should identify a specific microfiber, highlight the positive qualities of this microfiber, and discuss specific ways in which it meets the needs of the active wearer. Your pitches may discuss wicking, breathability, durability, water resistance, and comfort.

5. Warm fabrics, such as wool, and fleece made from manufactured fibers and certain microfibers help wick away moisture and tend to dry faster than other fabrics. Fabrics treated with waterproof or water-repellent finishes would also be ideal for cold, wet climates.

Section 26.2

Review Key Concepts
1. The longer a stain remains, the harder it is to get it out.

2. If you do not sort the clothing by color, dark colors can bleed on lighter colors and permanently stain them.

3. Shank buttons have a shank, or stem. Sew-through buttons allow the thread to come up through the button. You need to make a thread shank when using sew-through buttons.

4. Your answer should be in dialogue format, and explain that doing laundry includes hanging or folding garments to prevent wrinkles.

5. You should note any religious, cultural, or other reasons why the style of dress is not considered appropriate or fashionable in another culture.
