Poultry is the most popular meat in the United States. It contains protein, vitamins, and minerals and is often low in fat. The most common types of poultry are chicken, turkey, duck, and goose. Poultry comes in many forms, including whole birds, parts, and processed foods. Poultry must be stored in the refrigerator or freezer. Poultry can be cooked in many ways, including grilling, roasting, frying, stewing, and microwaving. Poultry is safe to eat when it reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees F.
