Your FriendshipsCheck Your Answers: After You ReadSection 3.1 Friends - An acquaintance is a person you greet or meet fairly often but do not have a close relationship with. A friend is someone with whom you have a close relationship.
- Peers provide a sense of belonging and can increase self-esteem.
- Someone to confide in, trust, and share common interests with.
- Use information from the text and personal experience to determine the qualities of a good friend. Sample interview questions: What do you like most about your best friend? What qualities in your friendship keep you together? How do you resolve disputes?
- Lists may include: research the new student's culture; talk about cultural differences as well as what you have in common; remember that different does not mean better or worse or wrong.
Section 3.2 Peer Pressure - Friends who cheer for you when you are on a team are showing positive peer pressure.
- Say no and walk away.
- A bully is a person who physically or verbally abuses someone and intends to cause injury.
- Use costumes, music, or graphics to capture the attention of children.
- Include details about the situation, how you reacted, how the other group or individual reacted, and how you would handle a similar situation.
