Section 14.2 Summary
Management styles include power-oriented, routine-oriented, and achievement-oriented. Good managers use them according to the situation at hand. The climate of a new business is set by the manager. Image, team-building, and communication are three key elements in a positive business climate. To manage a business successfully requires human relations, technical, time management, and conceptual skills, as well as foundational skills of communication, math, and problem solving. Excellent managers adhere to some common management principles that include taking action, listening to customers, and encouraging independence and innovation among employees.
