Introduction
Students have read about persuasive speaking and the three types of appeals that will make their persuasive speeches more effective. In this lesson they will learn to listen for these appeals and recognize how they are implemented.

Lesson Description
Students will listen to a persuasive speech by Winston Churchill and answer three questions pertaining to the speech.

Instructional Objectives

  1. Students will listen for techniques that will enhance their persuasive presentations.
  2. Students will reinforce their understanding of logical, emotional, and personal appeals in persuasive speaking, as well as their knowledge of how these appeals are used and why they are effective.
