Introduction
Students have learned vocabulary words in context by reading about Aesop's fables and reading "The Ant and the Dove."

Lesson Description
Students will go to http://www.bartleby.com and read Aesop's fable "The Swallow and the Other Birds." They will be prompted to write the definitions of four words by thinking about how each word is used in the fable. After they are finished, they will find the words in a dictionary.

Instructional Objectives

  1. Students will discern and write the meanings of words by thinking about the context in which they are used.
  2. Students will learn the meanings of four new words.
