Chapter 10: Solve Problems in Your Life

Chapter Summaries with Key Terms and Academic Vocabulary

Chapter Summary

Section 10.1 Decision Making

Decision making and problem solving are more effective when a logical process is used. The decision-making process has six steps. These include identifying the problem, listings and evaluating your options, choosing the best option, carrying out the option, and then evaluating the decision or solution. People who make sound decisions do not procrastinate or deny their problems. They are responsible for their own decisions.

Section 10.2 Manage and Take Action

Management skills are used to make decisions and solve problems. Management is using what you have to get what you want. It means setting goals and using resources to reach the goals. Resources can be human, material, or community based. Being resourceful means knowing how to find and use resources. Ethics are the basis for personal standards of behavior. Ethical decisions take into account the effects on others as well as on the decision maker.
