Section 20.1 Citizenship

2. Consider your interests, abilities, and time; learn about the groups in your area; check local newspapers; make a call or visit and sign up.

3. Its base word is voluntary; originally came from Latin word voluntarius, which was the basis of the old French term voluntaire. The date should be in the early 1600s. Students should realize that, based on this date, people have been volunteering and helping others for at least 400 years.
