Online Business Models
There are many types of businesses on the Web. They include marketplace exchanges such as Orbitz®; direct buying and selling, such as CarsDirect®; the name-your-price model, such as Priceline®; auction sites, such as eBay; brokers to handle transactions, such as PayPal; search engine or portals, such as Yahoo!; digital product online business, such as the Apple® iTunes Music Store; online subscription services, such Netflix®; digital games, such as Club Penguin; networking services, such as Classmates; and other social media sites, such as Twitter and Facebook.

Innovate and Create
Assign groups of students an online business model to research and report their findings. They should look for case studies and current information on the businesses. Ask them to assess the market leader's business plan—what makes it work so well?
