Leonard Bernstein
Leonard Bernstein was one of this century’s most prominent and prolific conductors, composers, and teachers. Even though he was the Music Director of the New York Philharmonic from 1958 to 1969, he still found time to write West Side Story and Candide and host over 30 Young People’s Concerts.

Mozart’s Musikalisches Wurfelspiel (Mozart’s Musical Dice Game)
In 1787, Mozart wrote rules for a musical “game,” which consisted of rolling dice to determine the order of a set of measures in a minuet. The online version of the game allows you to randomly select measures and then listen as the computer plays back your own aleatoric minuet. Even though you’re creating the pieces through completely random choices, somehow it always sounds good! Give it a try!
