Add and Edit Text in Outline View

You may want to use a version of the same slide many times over in your presentation. Rather than make the entire slide again, you can simply duplicate it. If you want to add text to the slide, PowerPoint also makes it easy to add text elements by either typing directly in the slide or by using the Outline View.

In your SUV Sales file, click the slide icon to the left of Major Selling Points.
Click the Edit menu, and then click Duplicate.
A duplicate of the slide is created (see Figure 1).

In the Outline View, select the text Click to add title. The first slide is displayed.
Select the title field. Type Presenting the New Advanta Sport Utility Vehicle. The text appears in the slide (see Figure 2).

In the slide, select Click to add subtitle. The text box will then become visible.
Select the text in the text box and type The latest in comfort, style, and mud.
The text is added directly to the slide. Your screen should look like Figure 3.

Select slide 3 in the Outline panel.
Select the text Major Selling Points. (Do not select the text in the slide; select the text in the Outline pane.)
Type High Performance SUV. Note that the new text appears in the slide. Your presentation should look like Figure 4.
